Steven Wilson

Unsung Hero Award

Steven Wilson, age thirty-five, has more than 20 years of experience in the arts and entertainment business. Whether as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, director or activist; Steven continues to create memorable, innovative, breathtaking events and productions. Born in Norwich, CT Wilson began dancing professionally at the age of 16. He has been under the guidance of Gwen Martins, Kenneth Jenkins, The Debbie Allen Summer Dance Intensive, Broadway Dance Center, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and many more. His performances include stage, concerts and video. Steven the recipient of a host of awards and scholarships; attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, double majoring in drama with a concentration in dance and business administration with a concentration in marketing.

As CEO and founder of the award-winning OASIS Dance Collective Steven is teacher of teachers. Wilson has served on the faculty of Dance Express LLC, DREAM Studios, and Writers Block Inc. He has also taught master dance classes for Connecticut College, UConn, Eastern CT University, Saint Joseph’s College, Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, George Mason, and Spelman College to name a few. He has served on the boards of The Dance Express Dance Company, Wanda Alston Foundation, and X Rae Dance Company. Steven is also an accomplished and noted fashion show director, critic, and model coach, and has produced and directed shows for his production company Ovah The Top Productions based in Washington, DC where he is CEO. He is also the Creative Director for the couture fashion house House of Shavi. Wilson’s newest venture Wilson Entertainment Group (WEG) a public relation, event planning, management firm is set to launch in early 2020. His students can be seen on BET, MTV, SYTYCD, videos, and stages worldwide.
