Mary’s House for Older Adults will capture the lived experiences of older, Black Americans who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender queer/same-gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL), who came of age during a time before people began living openly, when being LGBTQ was often misunderstood and grounds for fear, harassment, discrimination and even death. Following the general overview, we will divide into groups facilitated by Booz Allen Hamilton consultants. They will provide feedback on your cover letters and resumes. If you do not have a resume there will be resume writing stations with consultants available to assist you. Consultants will also be available for general job application related questions and feedback.

Finally, participants will be provided with feedback and insight on how to interview at a consulting company like Booz Allen Hamilton. Topics be covered include: how to present yourself, what to say versus what not to say and how to properly reference your resume in an interview setting.

"Ask the Doc" Women's Sexual Health WorkshopDC Black Pride is offering our first workshop dedicated to women’s sexual health.

Women who identify as lesbian, bisexual or transgender encounter barriers to health care that include concerns about confidentiality and disclosure, discriminatory attitudes and treatment, limited access to health care and health insurance, and often a limited understanding as to what their health risks may be. The goal of this workshop is to provide an informative and non-biased symposium of reproductive health care information, testing and referrals for LBT women of color. Anonymous questions can be submitted via mobile phone throughout the workshop. This work workshop will be facilitated by prominent Washington, DC area gynecologist, Dr. R. Jones, MD FACOG, Attending Physician OB/GYN at the University of Maryland Prince Georges Hospital Center and United Medical Center.
