2018 Charlotte Smallwood Volunteer of the Year Award

Kathy Neal is one of DC Black Pride’s most outstanding volunteers. As a retired Navy veteran, who finished her career in the age of “don’t ask, don’t tell”, she enjoys giving back to the community. She is a committed volunteer, always available to lend her time and talent and willing to stay until the last task is complete. In addition to her volunteer commitments, she enjoys a second career with the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C and is working on her master’s degree at the University of Maryland University College. —May 2018
