Events, times and locations are subject to change. Only official DC Black Pride events are listed on this page. If an event is not listed below, it is not an officially recognized DCBP event. All events being held in the Renaissance Washington DC Downtown (host hotel) are free unless otherwise noted.

Please note that there may be event photographers or videographers present at all DCBP events. Any persons attending events consent to have their photo taken and their likeness used by the Center for Black Equity for promotional purposes.

Ms. Harvey is celebrating her 20th Speaking Anniversary which began at DC Black Pride 2002. To celebrate, she’ll be premiering her directorial debut Black Rainbow Love. This docuseries tells the stories of black LGBTQ+ in a way that has never been done before. The authentic and transparent stories of love, intimacy, friendship, spirituality, marriage, self-care, community advocacy, purpose, and mental health were extracted from 17 interviews of 28 Lovers. The stories reflect the real lives of real people from a community whose culturally relevant stories aren’t being told, seen, shared, or discussed. Q & A with Angie and several of the featured Lovers from the documentary will follow the screening.

DC Black Pride Mary Bowman Poetry Slam is a spoken word competition in which poets share original works of works about pain, triumph, adversity, joy, humor, and passionate opinions on politics, socio-economics, cultures, humorous poems, or poems about nothing at all, and are reported to five judges.

It is absolutely free to Slam and to enjoy the show! Thirteen poets will compete in three elimination rounds for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Poets interested in participating should note that this is a poetry competition and your work will be judged by five different individuals from the community.

Poets will be judged on the writing, performance and originality of poems.

Rules

  • • Each round judges score the poets on a scale of 0.0 to 10.0 scoring the poets on the writing, the performance and originality of the poem.
  • • The top scores move forward in the competition three elimination rounds: 1st round, 13 poets; 2nd round seven poets and 3rd round four poets. Each round is random, we will draw names from a bowl each round. Each round is a clean slate.
  • • Time starts when the poet engages the audience.
  • • No props of any kind including but not limited to: clothing, jewelry or items brought on stage are allowed. Poets may bring paper or device to read from, but do not reference it, because then it becomes a prop.

Capitol Ballroom Council presents DC Black Pride Brunch & Babes Pt. 3: Live & In Color! An iconic drag brunch raising money for the House and Ballroom community in the DMV area. Hosted by the Mariah Paris Balenciaga of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 3 and All Stars season 5.

1st Show: Seating at 11:30 a.m. | Show begins at 12 p.m.
2nd Show: Seating at 2:30 p.m. | Show begins at 3 p.m.

Small sections are $100 and include one (1) free brunch and a $40 credit towards a second brunch.
Large sections are $150 and include two (2) free brunches and a $30 credit towards a third brunch.

Brunch: $60. Includes tax and gratuity, catered brunch buffet, two hours of bottomless assorted flavor mimosas and more!

After 15 minutes, the table will be resold to patrons on the waiting list and refunds will not be issued. Hookah available for an additional charge.
