2021 Curtis L. Etherly Jr. Ally Award

Channing Wickham

Channing WickhamChanning Wickham serves as the executive director of the Washington AIDS Partnership. Under his leadership, the Partnership has become the region’s largest private LGBTQ and HIV funder. Current programs include the nation’s largest PrEP for women of color initiative, and Catalyst, supporting HIV prevention efforts for queer men of color. Channing serves as the board chair of Funders Concerned About AIDS, is a trustee of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AID and is the past chair of the District of Columbia’s CDC HIV Prevention Community Planning Group.

About the Award: The Curtis L. Etherly, Jr. Ally Award is presented to a person who has proven themselves to be worthy of being called an “ally” to the Black LGBTQ+ community. Curtis Etherly was the embodiment of what it means to be an ally in thought, word and deed.
